The value in millings is locked up until they are sized. We crush the oversize and screen the reclaimed asphalt on the same RAP processing line that handles full mill-and-overlay tonnage, then run it to the product the job needs.

What are asphalt millings? +
Asphalt millings, also called RAP for reclaimed asphalt pavement, are the material ground off an existing asphalt road during resurfacing. They are made up of aged asphalt and aggregate, which is why they can be reused as a compacting surface, as base, or as recycled content back in hot mix.
Why screen millings instead of using them raw? +
Raw millings come off the road in mixed sizes with slabbed chunks, and a raw pile rarely compacts well or holds a surface. Screening them to a consistent gradation, after crushing the oversize, is what lets them bind and shed water. The processing is the difference between a loose pile and a firm, usable surface.
Are screened millings good for a driveway or parking lot? +
They are a common, cost-effective surface for driveways, lots, lanes, and equipment yards. Screened to a consistent size and compacted, they firm up into an all-weather surface at a fraction of the cost of new asphalt or concrete.
Can reclaimed asphalt go back into hot mix? +
Yes, when it is crushed and screened to a clean, consistent size. The allowable RAP percentage depends on the mix design and the controlling spec. Send the project and we will confirm what fits. Call 719-304-4873 to talk it through.
Can you process millings on-site during a mill-and-overlay? +
Yes. Rather than trucking millings off and trucking new material back, we process the RAP where it sits so it goes back into the new section. Send the milepost range and tonnage with your bid request and we will plan the mobilization around the paving schedule.
